Koi Tower

Leipzig Zoo is home to probably the largest vacuum suspended column aquarium. Alongside the new aquarium house, a large 60-m³ outdoor pond was opened in early 2022. The pond stretches across the extensive outdoor area, and a footbridge separates two granite tanks that are connected belowground. This underground link allows the fish to pass through the tanks and swim into the 2500-mm high Koi Tower where they come face-to-face with zoo visitors.
